Handson HD F350 Scene Files

Readme for the HandsOn XDCAM HD Scene Files for the Sony PDW-F350 XDCAM Camera

*NOTE*
These Scene Files are provided "as-is" and are unsupported.  Further information and examples of these Scene Files are provided on "HandsOn HD: A Guide to Shooting with the Sony XDCAM HD F350/F330 Camcorders"  Order Now

The Scene Files are provided as a courtesy and may, or may not be suitable for your production.  We recommend that you test these files before using them for an actual production.

Scene Files may have specific shutter-speed specifications which require "shutter-speed" to be turned on.


I. Setup issues:
  1. These Scene Files were created on, and for the Sony XDCAM HD F-350 camera and may work on other Sony XDCAM systems, but this has not been tested and you should do so at your own risk.
  2. For best results use a Sony brand Memory Stick that has been formatted on the camera. (Maximum Supported Size: 128mb)
  3. Before copying these Scene Files, ensure that the camera can both read and write Scene Files to the Memory Stick.
  4. Back-up any existing Scene Files on the Memory Stick to your local hard-drive before copying new Scene Files to the Memory Stick.

II. Setup:
  1. Extract the HandsOnHD_F350_Scene_Files.zip to your local hard drive.
  2. Insert your Memory Stick and navigate to the :\MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HD_CAM\ folder. I.E: F:\MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HD_CAM\ Take note of any existing Scene files for reference in Step 4.
  3. Open a second Explorer window and navigate to \HD_CAM folder in the location you created in Step 1.
  4. If you are copying these Scene Files to a Memory Stick with existing Scene Files, you must first rename these Scene Files before copying them to your Memory Stick. IF YOU FAIL TO RENAME THEM, YOU MAY OVERWRITE EXISTING SCENE FILES ON YOUR MEMORY STICK.
    *NOTE* The name of the file corresponds to the Scene File number used by the camera.

    • Right-Click on the .scn file you wish to rename and select Rename.
    • Rename the .scn file to the desired scene file number. I.E. 00000001.scn -> 00000015.scn = Scene File 001 to Scene File 015
      • *NOTE* The resulting file name must be 8 characters long.
    • Repeat the previous two steps for all desired Scene Files.

  5. Copy the Scene Files from the hard drive \HD_CAM folder to the Memory Stick :\MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HD_CAM\ folder.
  6. Congratulations, you have just installed the HandsOn HD Scene Files to your Memory Stick.
